Since the age of 6, Dr. Duplechain has known he wanted to be a physician. He began pursuing his dream at Louisiana State University Medical School, earning his medical degree in 1985. He then completed his residency training in general surgery through the Ochsner Medical Foundation, with health centers around the New Orleans area, and in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Tulane University Medical Center. During his residency at Tulane University, Dr. Duplechain had the distinctive privilege to observe world famous surgeons like Dr. Jack Anderson and Dr. Calvin Johnson. These surgeons are considered to be pioneers in rhinoplasty and facelift, and they are some of the surgeons that helped Dr. Duplechain solidify his interest in the field of cosmetic surgery.

In 1992, Dr. Duplechain was certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Since then, he has continued his medical education, earning certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1995 and scoring one of the highest scores on the oral examination of the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery during that examination year.  Continuing his education process, Dr. Duplechain eventually became certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr. Duplechain also directs an annual AACS-certified fellowship training program, in which he offers hands-on cosmetic surgery training to surgeons specializing in cosmetic surgery after their residency.

In the past, he has served as chairman for the American Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgery and has held various leadership roles, including secretary and treasurer, for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. As a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he has served on the emerging trends committee and volunteered with Face to Face humanitarian programs providing needed reconstructive surgeries pro bono.
